Modesto Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
In the 8-6 Modesto win over San Jose, the impact of Bob Edmonds was substantial. Edmonds, who is tied for 7th in the CAL with a .363 batting average, was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Ernesto Sánchez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Hal Powell suffered the loss. The Nuts, at 20-14, have now won 5 straight.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Modesto trailing 6-4, Edmonds jumped on a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Hal Powell and hit a grand slam home run to center. With one swing, the Nuts had a walk-off win.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Edmonds said.
