Blaze Pull Off Thrilling 7-6 Win in Extras
The Bakersfield Blaze overcame a good performance by San Jose shortstop Ernie Palmer to knock off San Jose, 7-6, in 13 innings at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Palmer went 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. The first-place Blaze have won 7 consecutive games.

The Blaze got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Luis Carranza. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Blaze.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Joe McEwing, the Bakersfield skipper.
