A good performance from center fielder António Manuel helped the Visalia Rawhide defeat the San Jose Giants, 5-4. Manuel went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Rawhide. The winner in relief was Luis Valdés. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. The save went to Dave Hensley, number 7 for him.

Had José Gómez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gómez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rawhide.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Manuel told the Visalia News.

The 4th-place Rawhide now have a win-loss record of 18-21.
