The Inland Empire 66ers defeated the Modesto Nuts, 13-4, at San Manuel Stadium. Jesús Ruíz, who is tied for 9th in the CAL in runs scored with 25, was a standout performer for Inland Empire. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. The 66ers now have a record of 21-22 with the win over Modesto.

Ronnie Young had a big 2-run double for the 66ers in the bottom of the third inning. With Inland Empire leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a forkball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Greg Miller and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the 66ers ahead, 5-2.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Ruíz, "one at-bat at a time."
