Bakersfield and High Desert got after it at Stater Bros. Stadium.

Bakersfield beat High Desert on the strength of starting pitcher Cam Rice's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Wallace.

José Barajas went 1-5 for Bakersfield. The 21-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Eric Cox. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Barajas.

Bakersfield has an impressive 30-15 record.
