Mavericks Absorb 3-1 Home Loss
Bakersfield pitcher Mike Briddon had a large part in his team beating the High Desert Mavericks, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Briddon, now 5-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Chad Payling earned the save for Bakersfield, his 10th.

The Blaze got a big at-bat from right fielder Bobby White. For the game, White went 1 for 4 with a triple. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Bakersfield a 1-0 lead.

White said his team "played with a purpose."

By defeating High Desert, the third-place Blaze improved to 22-23.
