Nuts Pick Up 3-1 Win Against Stockton
The Modesto Nuts picked up a win at John Thurman Field, downing the Stockton Ports, 3-1. On the mound for Modesto was right-hander Mike Sanford, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sanford got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. The Nuts sport a record of 18-29.

Víctor Ocasio had a big 2-run home run for the Nuts in the bottom of the third inning. With Modesto trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Manny Gómez, who is tied for 8th in the CAL in quality starts with 4, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Nuts on top, 2-1.

"We busted our tails," said Stockton manager Kelly Stinnett. "But we came up short."
