San Jose Absorbs 4-3 Loss to Bakersfield
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Bakersfield Blaze got the win.
Johnny Morgan, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL in strikeouts with 73, propelled his team to victory over the San Jose Giants. The final score was 4-3, Bakersfield. Morgan yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-2.
Bakersfield won the game in part because of Tony Villarreal. The shortstop ripped a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 4-2. For the game, Villarreal had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said San Jose manager Jake Arrieta.
The win for the Blaze raised their record to 32-22.
