The High Desert Mavericks beat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 6-5, in 13 innings. High Desert catcher Tony Anderson, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 5 for 6 with a double and 4 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. High Desert now has a record of 30-25 with the win.

High Desert used the timely hitting of Bobby Schultz to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Mavericks on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Mavericks manager Vance Wilson.
