Dan Hines was a major contributor to the 8-2 Stockton win over Bakersfield. The Ports center fielder went 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Stockton reliever Bernardo Martínez snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Ron Wallace shouldered the loss. The save was credited to César Rodríguez, his 4th.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but César Rodríguez didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Bakersfield trailing 4-2, Rodríguez retired Dana Spencer to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Rodríguez, with a wink.
