The Stockton Ports converted a terrific effort from starter Steve Green into a win over the Bakersfield Blaze at Banner Island Ballpark. The Ports won the game by a final score of 6-2. Green yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-4. By defeating Bakersfield, the third-place Ports improved to 29-30.

Stockton took a 2-1 lead on Dan Hines's 14th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Hines hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Bakersfield pitcher Johnny Morgan visibly frustrated.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Hines.
