Blaze Clip Giants, 3-2
|
The Bakersfield Blaze took Andy Dunbar's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. The final score had Bakersfield getting past the Giants, 3-2, in 10 innings. Dunbar over 7 innings allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 5. The win went to Mike Kirby in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Edgardo Roa took the loss. Bakersfield raised its record to 36-27 with the win.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Bakersfield shortstop Tony Villarreal, facing Edgardo Roa, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Blaze the 3-2 win.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Villarreal told the Bakersfield News. "But we take nothing for granted."
