Jim Campbell impressed in the 8-5 Stockton win over Rancho Cucamonga. Campbell, who is tied for 7th in the CAL in home runs with 7, was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Manny Gómez picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-6. He struck out 9 in 6.1 innings. Stockton is now 33-36, Rancho Cucamonga 38-31.
Rubén Jiménez had a big 2-run home run for the Ports in the bottom of the second inning. With Stockton leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Joe Groves and swatted a home run to left. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ports ahead, 3-0.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Campbell told the Stockton Citizen.
