Thompson Goes Deep Twice in 9-4 Ports Win
A 7-RBI performance from first baseman Art Thompson, who is tied for 7th in the CAL in home runs with 7, led the Stockton Ports to a win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 9-4. The winning pitcher was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Green. He tossed 109 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. Earning his 1st save of the year was Tim Hilton.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Thompson hit a 2-run double off Bob Morris. It propelled the Ports into the lead, 6-4.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Thompson told the Stockton Citizen.

The loss makes Rancho Cucamonga 38-32.
