The Modesto Nuts got a good effort from starter Alan Parker in defeating the Inland Empire 66ers at John Thurman Field. The final score was 5-2. The winning pitcher was Parker, now 4-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The Nuts saw their win-loss record go to 31-39. At the same time, the 66ers fell to 22-48.
Chris Johnston drove in one run for Modesto. The 26-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Andy McCormick. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
Johnston called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
