The Inland Empire 66ers earned a close win over the San Jose Giants, thanks in part to Clarence Sharp. The Inland Empire right-hander played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Inland Empire reliever Mike Kirk snagged the win, upping his record to 1-4. Fernando Perri shouldered the loss. José Martínez recorded the save, his 5th.
With scoring opportunities rare, the 66ers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when designated hitter Mike MacIntosh hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Fernando Perri and made the score 2-1, 66ers. MacIntosh was 1 for 4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sharp told the Inland Empire Gazette.
Inland Empire, with the win, climbs to 23-49.
