Ports Rally to Beat Giants, 9-8
The Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants, 9-8. Doing his part was shortstop Norm O'Sullivan, who was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The last-place Ports have won 8 in a row.

The Ports were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 26-year old third baseman Chad Baker landed a big blow. He turned a full count fastball from Hal Powell into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Banner Island Ballpark denizens into a frenzy and sent the Ports home with a thrilling 9-8 win.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Baker told reporters after the game.
