JetHawks Throttled by Quakes, 3-1

Rancho Cucamonga and Lancaster duked it out and the Quakes came out victorious.
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Joe Groves to a win, beating the Lancaster JetHawks, 3-1, at The Hanger. Groves got the win, improving to 6-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Butch Patterson hit a run-scoring triple off Doug Frank in the top of the third, which put the Quakes in front, 1-0. Patterson had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
Groves told a Rancho Cucamonga News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
The win puts Rancho Cucamonga at 47-37 this season.
