High Desert Coasts to 12-2 Win
|
The High Desert Mavericks used an offensive barrage to beat the San Jose Giants, 12-2, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. José Muñóz, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2023 draft, led the way, going 3-for-4 for High Desert. Pat Peterson, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held San Jose to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. High Desert, at 47-37, sits in first place in the South Division.
In the top of the second, High Desert first baseman Jerry Bannon had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Bannon stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-1, High Desert. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Jake Arrieta.
