Blaze Get 9th Straight Win with Late Rally
Chris Davis did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Modesto Nuts from being beaten, 6-5, to the Bakersfield Blaze at John Thurman Field. Davis went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Bakersfield reliever Juan Ávila was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Luis Prado. Chris Hall, credited with the save, is now 9 for 9 in save opportunities.

Bakersfield relied on the bat of José Barajas to get the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 6-5. For the game, Barajas had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"We'll keep riding this wave as long as we can," said Blaze manager Joe McEwing.

With the win over Modesto, the Blaze improved to 51-35.
