The Lancaster JetHawks got a good effort from starter Stu Hewer in defeating the High Desert Mavericks at The Hanger. The final score was 3-2. The win went to Rob Johnstone in relief, making him now 2-2. Víctor Sánchez took the loss for High Desert. Picking up his 13th save was 17-year old left-handed pitcher Julián Castaneda.

Johnny Givens, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL in home runs with 12, took High Desert hurler Víctor Sánchez deep in the bottom of the eighth. His solo home run put the JetHawks on top, 3-2. In all, Givens had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Vance Wilson.

Lancaster now sits at 53-53, while High Desert falls to 59-47.
