The Inland Empire 66ers topped the Modesto Nuts, 4-3, in California League action at San Manuel Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Inland Empire pitcher Mike Owens. The second-place 66ers are 56-55.

Inland Empire went in front, 4-2, on Norberto Costello's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Costello hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Modesto pitcher Mike Blowey visibly perturbed.

Costello called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
