Lake Elsinore Defeated by Bakersfield, 6-5

The Bakersfield Blaze and Lake Elsinore Storm obliged fans looking for a good time.
Lake Elsinore left fielder Esteban Márquez had a good game, even if his team did not. The Storm dropped a 6-5 decision to Bakersfield at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Márquez was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Hall. He tossed 120 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. Chad Payling got credit for the save for Bakersfield. It was his 30th of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Jake Schneider was at the plate when Bakersfield scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Blaze to go in front, 4-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Bakersfield manager Joe McEwing.
The third-place Blaze are now 66-56, the Storm 40-82.
