Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Recreation Park.

The Modesto Nuts defeated the Visalia Rawhide by the score of 7-6, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Jesús Lugo. Lugo went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Nuts on the day. Killian Freake earned the save for Modesto, his 8th.

Ed Alston came through with a big-time hit for Modesto. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Audo Vicente.

The win puts Modesto at 48-77.
