Hillcats Lose at Home, 9-2, to Carolina
|
The Lynchburg Hillcats started the 2025 season not with a bang but with a whimper, falling, 9-2, to the Carolina Mudcats at Ed Smith Stadium. First Baseman Juan Valle, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2024 draft, was the top performer for Carolina. Kevin Kirby, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2024 draft, was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was Orlando Galindo. Sergio Martínez closed it out for Carolina, earning his 1st save.
Valle had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Mudcats went on to win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Valle.
