Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans were eager to watch Víctor Trujillo square off against Ben Tucker of the visiting Wilmington Blue Rocks. In the end, the Pelicans won the game, 4-2, with Víctor Trujillo leading the way.
The decisive blow was delivered by Joe McDonald in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old left-handed pitcher Lou McKee to win the game for Myrtle Beach. The home crowd went nuts.
"This house was rockin'," McDonald said.
