Markakis Helps Myrtle Beach Bombard Wilmington
Jeff Markakis was a major factor in the 15-4 Myrtle Beach win over Wilmington. The Pelicans left fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. The loss makes Wilmington 0-2.

Greg Chambers had a big 2-run triple for the Pelicans in the bottom of the second inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Irving and swatted a triple to center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 3-0.

"Good to get a win," said Chambers, "but it's a long season."
