The Frederick Keys topped the Lynchburg Hillcats, 6-5, in Carolina League action at Harry Grove Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Frederick pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native José Luna. Raúl Hernández earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. The Keys raised their record to 1-2.

The Keys got a big hit from left fielder Steve Stone. In the bottom of the sixth, Stone smacked a 2-run home run off Lynchburg pitcher Orlando Castro. It was his 1st home run of the season. Suddenly, the Keys were ahead, 6-5.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Frederick manager Whit Merrifield.
