Blue Rocks Rally to Tally 5-4 Win
|
Thanks in large part to first baseman Myron Grant, the Wilmington Blue Rocks beat the Potomac Nationals, 5-4. Grant went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Wilmington reliever Steffen Lord snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kurt Dawson shouldered the loss. César García earned save number 1 this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Wilmington, had it not been for César Villaneda, the 21-year old catcher . Villaneda contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Wilmington up, 4-3.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Blue Rocks manager Ozzie Timmons. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Potomac is 3-1 after the loss.
