Mudcats 4-1 Winners Versus Winston-Salem
|
The Carolina Mudcats picked up a win at New Winston-Salem Ballpark, topping the Winston-Salem Dash, 4-1. On the mound for Carolina was left-hander Donnie Turner. He played a principal role in the triumph. Turner, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Shawn Moore recorded his 2nd save for Carolina.
Carolina used a well-timed hit by Cris González to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Mudcats ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Big team win," González said later.
The victory makes Carolina 5-3.
