Carolina pitcher Joe Byrd had a large part in his team beating the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 7-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Byrd went the distance for Carolina. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. With the loss, Myrtle Beach drops to 8-7.

Carolina used the timely hitting of Rhett Clark to capture the win. The second baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mudcats on top, 7-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
