The Carolina Mudcats got a superb performance from pitcher Ron Conrad, but the Winston-Salem Dash still won the game, 4-3. Conrad threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rob Vizcaino Jr. in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Don Stephens took the loss. Winston-Salem sits at 11-6 in the early going.

Winston-Salem used a timely hit from Tony Davis to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dash ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Davis told the Winston-Salem Daily News.
