Third Baseman King gets 3 RBI, Steals Spotlight in Carolina Rout
The Carolina Mudcats defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats, 12-3. Third Baseman Jerry King deserved a large share of the credit. King went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Mudcats. Kevin Snyder earned the win, while 22-year old right-handed pitcher Dwayne Wilson took the loss for Lynchburg. The Hillcats, now 5-14, continue their sluggish start.

Beau Carson had a big bases-clearing triple for the Mudcats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Carolina trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Dwayne Wilson and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mudcats ahead, 3-1.

"I know everybody in here is putting in the work," said Lynchburg manager Nick Markakis. "It's just not paying off."
