The Lynchburg Hillcats beat the Carolina Mudcats, 7-5, at Grainger Stadium. Luis Carlos, who is tied for 7th in the CAR in bases on balls with 11, starred for Lynchburg. He went 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3. Jim Perkins snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Steve Preston suffered the loss. Lynchburg is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 21 games.

Lynchburg used the hitting of Danny Becker to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hillcats on top, 6-5. For the game, Becker had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
