8-4 Win Gets Myrtle Beach to 13-10

Derek Humphrey did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Carolina Mudcats from being beaten, 8-4, to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Humphrey went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Dan Newman earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. Carolina drops to 10-13.
Israel Menéndez had a big 2-run double for the Pelicans in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Johnny Wilson and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 5-1.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Menéndez.
