Mudcats Come Up Short at Myrtle Beach, 4-3
|
Myrtle Beach and Carolina duked it out and the Pelicans came out victorious.
Víctor Trujillo, who is tied for 3rd in the CAR in wins with 3, was locked in. The right-hander led the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a 4-3 win against the Carolina Mudcats at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Trujillo, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs.
Myrtle Beach shortstop Don Burns contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Pelicans ahead, 4-2.
"We were the better team," crowed Burns.
The loss drops the Mudcats to 10-14.
