Winston-Salem Scrapes Out 2-1 Win
|
Behind an impressive start by Cristiano Rodríguez, Winston-Salem beat Myrtle Beach, 2-1. Winston-Salem reliever Jeff Jones got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jerry Jennings was tagged with the loss. The save was Mike Brown's, his 7th.
Ben Daugherty, who is tied for 10th in the CAR with a .315 batting average, helped out the Winston-Salem cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 walks.
"Cristiano is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Winston-Salem manager Brent Metheny.
The Dash have hit the ground running, raising their record to 17-8. While it's still too soon to talk about Winston-Salem hoisting their 1st Round 2 trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
