G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Potomac Nationals and Salem Red Sox.

The Salem Red Sox topped the Potomac Nationals, 4-2, in Carolina League action at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Salem third baseman José Espinoza. Salem starter Virgil Vásquez was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-0.

Ed English, who is tied for 9th in the CAR in doubles with 7, had a direct impact on the outcome. English contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Salem up, 2-0.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Cesar Martin.

The Nationals, now 8-20, continue their sluggish start.
