José Rúbio left his imprint on the 6-2 Carolina win against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Rúbio, who is tied for 8th in the CAR in total bases with 51, was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Carolina reliever Johnny Wilson snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alfredo Limón shouldered the loss. The victory gives Carolina a record of 17-12.

Early in the game, Rúbio had a 3-run home run for Carolina. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Mudcats on top, 3-0.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Carolina manager John Cornely.
