The Frederick Keys got a superb performance from pitcher Bob Badger, but the Wilmington Blue Rocks still won the game, 4-2. Badger threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Lou McKee earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. With the win, the Blue Rocks sit at 20-14.

The Blue Rocks beat the Keys in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jesús Ríos produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Tynan Brown, Ríos gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Ríos called the win "a pick-me-upper."
