The Wilmington Blue Rocks defeated the Carolina Mudcats, 9-8. Left Fielder Edwin Wolf deserved a large share of the credit. Wolf was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Blue Rocks. Rob Taylor claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-1. With the win, Wilmington raised its record to 18-18.

In the top of the seventh, Wilmington left fielder Dwayne Carlisle had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Carlisle stroked a run-scoring single to left.
