Winston-Salem had no answer for Wilmington Blue Rocks starter Aurelio Quintana, who flummoxed Dash hitters as the Blue Rocks cruised to victory, 6-1. With this game in the books, Wilmington is 28-20, Winston-Salem 28-20.
Wilmington used a clutch at-bat from Juan Carlos Pérez to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Blue Rocks ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Nice win for us," said Pérez. "Now we'll go after the next one."
