The Lynchburg Hillcats beat the Winston-Salem Dash, 3-2, at Ed Smith Stadium. The win was due in part to catcher Yoni Janvier, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Earning his 12th save for Lynchburg was Kevin Dudley. With this game in the books, Lynchburg is 29-20, Winston-Salem 28-21.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Jesús Rivera was at the plate when Lynchburg scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Hillcats to go in front, 3-2.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Winston-Salem manager Brent Metheny, "let me know."
