The Potomac Nationals cut down the Carolina Mudcats by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Ken Ochoa. Ochoa was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals. Chris Brown was the winner. He's now 6-3. The loser was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Kevin Key. Sean Wilson earned the save for Potomac, his 7th.

Potomac grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Ochoa hit a grand slam home run off Kevin Key. His 3rd home run of the season put the Nationals out in front, 5-1.
