In a low-scoring contest between the Wilmington Blue Rocks and the Salem Red Sox, Dave Irving, who is tied for 6th in the CAR with a 1.24 WHIP, proved to be the difference. The Wilmington right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Blue Rocks win. With the win, Wilmington pushed its record to 30-22.

Irving delivered a quality start for Wilmington. The 6-foot-3 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings of work.

"I liked his command," said Wilmington manager Ozzie Timmons. "Dave was throwing strikes."
