Pelicans Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Nationals, 5-2
|
The Potomac Nationals got a superb performance from pitcher Desi Muller, but the Myrtle Beach Pelicans still won the game, 5-2. Muller threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Jerry Jennings was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The triumph puts Myrtle Beach at 31-29 for the season.
Steve Bender helped out the Myrtle Beach cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the center fielder was 1-4 with a walk.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Bender, "one at-bat at a time."
