Blue Rocks Rally Late to Nip Hillcats

The Wilmington Blue Rocks and Lynchburg Hillcats put on a pitchers' duel.
The Lynchburg Hillcats wasted an impressive 7.2-inning effort from starter Zander Kelly, falling, 2-1, to the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Ed Smith Stadium. Wilmington reliever Vince Lyons picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Dylan Fairchild absorbed the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Juan Carlos Pérez? The 20-year old center fielder Pérez stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Wilmington up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Wilmington skipper Ozzie Timmons.
The setback makes Lynchburg 36-26.
