A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Geoff Snyder was at the plate when Wilmington scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Blue Rocks to go in front, 2-1.

"I thought José threw the ball well across the board," said Wilmington manager Ozzie Timmons.
