Thompson Helps Salem Cruise to 10-3 Win
The 10-3 Salem win over Frederick was due in large part to Rob Thompson. The Red Sox right fielder went 3-5 with a triple and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Jake Laidler got credit for the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. The Red Sox sport a record of 25-40.

With Salem leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Thompson came up to bat against Frederick pitcher Tommy Vance. Thompson hit a curveball to right-center for a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season put the Red Sox on top, 8-0.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Thompson told the Salem Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
