Pelicans Earn 4-2 Home Win
|
Myrtle Beach starter Ty Wall pitched well against the Wilmington Blue Rocks at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Wall, now 1-2. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Jerry Jennings nailed down his 4th save.
Joe McDonald had a big solo home run for the Pelicans in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a circle change from César García and swatted a home run to left. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 3-1.
"I thought Ty threw the ball well across the board," said Myrtle Beach manager Jose Lobaton.
Myrtle Beach is now 34-31. Wilmington is 37-28.
