Nationals Topple Dash with Late Rally
The Winston-Salem Dash could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Doug Beck into a win. Instead, the Potomac Nationals prevailed, 7-4. Beck threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner in relief was Darren Campbell. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. Picking up the save was Jeremy Hansen, his 5th.

Jim Gordon provided a timely hit. The Potomac right fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nationals on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Cesar Martin.

After today's action, Potomac sits at 32-37; Winston-Salem slips to 45-24.
