The Wilmington Blue Rocks beat the Salem Red Sox, 8-6, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. The Blue Rocks got a fine performance from left fielder Tim Allen, who was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Steffen Lord, who is tied for 9th in the CAR in saves with 7, was the winner. He's now 5-4. The loser was Tex Davis. Juan Ramírez earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.

Myron Grant had a big 2-run home run for the Blue Rocks in the top of the first inning. With Wilmington leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Tex Davis and swatted a home run to center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Rocks ahead, 3-0.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Allen.

The win for the Blue Rocks lifted their record to 40-40.
