Soggy conditions did not keep Myrtle Beach and Frederick from playing their scheduled game.

The Frederick Keys went down to defeat to Willie Johnson and his Myrtle Beach teammates. The final score was 7-2, in favor of the Pelicans. The Pelicans raised their record to 28-52.

Ken Clark had a big 2-run double for the Pelicans in the top of the fifth inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Tony Martínez and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 3-0.

Johnson called the win "a team effort."
